Liner, a new cutlery collection designed by Corin Mellor, is a 21st-century interpretation of the timeless glamour of early 20th century design.
Inspired by the work of the iconic silversmith Robert Goodden, who taught David Mellor at the Royal College of Art in the 1950s, Liner is flamboyant and flowing. The decorative fluting that subtly fades into its handle brings to mind the elegance of Art Deco and the glory days of transatlantic travel.
Liner has been in development for three years and has been designed on a grand scale. The individual pieces have an undeniable sense of grandeur and theatre and feel pleasingly substantial in the hand. The knives have blades made from high carbon steel for a superior cutting edge and hollow handles to make sure they are perfectly balanced.
The range is one of David Mellor Design's most comprehensive, with twelve pieces in the range including a coffee spoon, butter knife and cake fork. All the pieces have a stylish satin finish. Liner has been designed with elegant entertaining in mind.
