Wine glass designed by esteemed industrial designer Sori Yanagi and handcrafted by Hirota Glass in Tokyo. The glass has a curious shape with a voluminous broad stem adding weight and a sense of stability. The form's soft flow makes you want to pull the glass closer when you wrap it in your hand. The material reflects the texture of the drink and even the pattern of the table that allows for the interplay of the glass and space.
The form of the curve that unites the stem and the bowl has been meticulously calculated and designed through iterations of three-dimensional models created in plaster casts, an approach for which Sori Yanagi was known. He believed in designing through physical models and inspecting the fine balance of an object within his own hands.
Sori Yanagi Design Wine Glass is available in two sizes: small and large. Although created as a wine glass, the small size is suitable for sake and as a vessel for small desserts. Large glass has room for pouring wine and enjoying the aroma that is released. This glass is also a fitting size for tall drinks such as shochu with soda or a craft beer.
Each Yanagi Design Wine Glass will differ from one another slightly due to its handmade nature and natural materials. Bubbles may be present in the glass as a result of the manufacturing process. Each piece is hand molded by a craftsperson, and there are individual differences in the thickness of the base. The glass is not heat-resistant. Hand wash only. Please do not use in dishwasher nor microwave.
