Rabbits only drive on forward and don’t step back, so they have been considered lucky as a symbol of advancement. Legends say that usagi pound mochi on the moon. People in East Asia have long seen the Moon Rabbit or Jade Rabbit as a symbol for the Mid-Autumn Festival, which is a celebration of the full moon and the fall harvest. Also, usagi is a representation of cleverness, self-devotion, prosperity, abundance, fertility, and longevity because of its ability to reproduce and build ancestry.
