Design pioneer Alvar Aalto combined simple design with a craftsman’s expertise to create iconic pieces of home design that are functional and sculptural. Inspired by his native Finnish landscape, Aalto’s asymmetrical waves have been a timeless symbol of Scandinavian design since winning the 1937 Paris World Fair. Its fluid, organic form is still mouth blown today at the Iittala factory. It takes a team of seven skilled craftsmen working as one to create one Aalto vase – an icon of modern design.
Each unique Aalto glass object goes through a multi-step production process at the Iittala Glass Factory. The crystal is mouthblown then the pieces are hand cut before going through several polishings. The 220mm-tall vase showcases long-stemmed flower bouquets perfectly while its clear color makes this decorative vase a versatile part of any home décor.
The smallest piece in the collection, the 75mm pressed glass clear bowl is ideal for sauces and desserts. Also great for displaying tiny trinkets or storing jewelry. The clear color makes it a versatile part of any home décor. Perfect birthday, wedding, anniversary or housewarming gift.
